Constructing Sights
in the Workplace

This juried exhibition mounted at the Maltwood Gallery and Art Museum, University of Victoria, was based on a study that explored how people view their everyday workplace during a construction project, and how those sights influence their work. Trades people, faculty, and staff at one university campus took part in a contemplative photography studio project and gathered images over a period of 2 months. Their images highlight the aesthetic aspects of a construction site. In follow-up interviews, several participants indicated they now see their workplace in a new light, and some of the participants indicated that by taking the photographs in their workplace, they began to think more creatively about what they were seeing, and their work.
